The Coronavirus (2019-nCOV) has been affecting the life of people around the world. The affected countries are doing their best to contain the spread of the virus through various measures. Singapore is no exception. The Singapore Government has been adopting very strict measures to contain the spread of virus including travel restrictions. 14 day quarantine measures have been strictly imposed on anyone with a travel history to China or for any suspected case. You can get an update on the coronavirus situation in Singapore by following this link https://www.moh.gov.sg/2019-ncov-wuhan.
We have been receiving enquiries from some delegates about the conference status and whether there is any plan for postponement. The current Disease Outbreak Response System Condition (DORSCON) is at Orange alert. As this is an evolving situation and there is no firm directive from the Government to cancel planned conferences, we are still going ahead with our plans. However, we are also closely monitoring the situation and will update all the delegates on the conference status in two weeks.
Unfortunately as part of virus containment the government has temporarily suspended visa approvals for Chinese citizens. We understand their concerns and looking into solutions including screening recorded presentations at the conference. Further updates will be posted on the conference website as and when we have any new information.
Wishing you all the best of health,
General Chair, OCEANS 2020 Singapore
